Neo or "new" evangelicalism is a movement within evangelical Christianity (late1960's) originated by Harold J.Ockenga, Carl F.H.Henry and others. They considered the older fundamentalism as too seaparatist, otherworldly and anti-intellectual without much influence on culture and social life. Neo-evangelicalism emphasizes social responsibility and the social dimension of the Gospel. Some in this camp deny the inerrancy of the Bible. They are also generally open to evangelical ecumenism. A repudiation of dispensationalism is also one of the characteristics of the new evangelicals (there may be some exceptions).
